Microdermabrasion and Micro Peel®
Microdermabrasion and the Micro Peel® are highly effective ways of stimulating the growth of new skin cells and collagen by gently exfoliating the outer layers of skin. During a Microdermabrasion treatment, facial skin is polished with very small crystal particles, and dead skin cells and impurities are vacuumed away.
The classic Micro Peel® delicately and precisely clears dead cell build-up more efficiently than any other physical exfoliation method without causing any redness or dilation to blood vessels in the skin. Chemical Peels
Ohio Plastic Surgeons offers several regular and designer chemical peels to our patients in Columbus and surrounding areas, including lactic acid, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, Jessner’s acid, retonic acid, TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and combination AHA/BHA peels.

Q: Is a physician supervised skin care program expensive?
A: No! Not at all. At Ohio Plastic Surgeons, it is surprisingly reasonable, less than what most people spend at their local department store or salon.
Q: Is a physician supervised skin care program more effective?
A: Absolutely. With the new cosmeceuticals available today, and with prescriptions when needed, results are unequaled by any other program.
Q: Will I have a physician involved in my skin care?
A: Yes, and at no extra cost to you. When there are hard to treat problems, such as active acne or acne prone, sun damaged, and/or hyperpigmented skin, prescriptions are often necessary for a short time. Because these types of problems need special care, a medical skin care specialist and physician working together are essential to obtaining superior results.
Q: I have acne scars. Is there anything that can be done?
A: Yes! They can be improved. Acne scars need more intense care but can be treated quite effectively through a series of treatments.
Q: My skin has brown spots and is uneven in color from years in the sun. What can I do?
A: You may require a prescription, as well as a series of in-office chemical exfoliants, an active home program, and ongoing sun protection.

Karen Farrell-Cruz – Advanced Clinical Skin Care Specialist and Educator
Karen Farrell-Cruz is licensed in cosmetology in Pennsylvania and Ohio and holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated Cum Laude honors. For more than 35 years, she has specialized in skin care, make-up, and total image development in the Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Columbus markets.
A former Day Spa/Salon owner on both coasts and manager of the Saks Fifth Avenue Salon in Philadelphia, Karen has brought her expertise in business development, skin care, and education to her current staff position at Ohio Plastic Surgeons. Her responsibilities at Ohio Plastic Surgeons for the past twelve years have included development and marketing of the skin care clinic, designing educational/informational materials, public speaking engagements for skin care and cosmetic surgery for the lay public, and public relations for the practice.
Other career pursuits for Karen consist of advanced clinical skin care education, continuing education classes for professionals at the state and national level. She is active in consulting for medical and salon professionals in clinical skin care business development. Karen is also an independent representative and educator to professionals for Edge Systems Corp. skin care equipment manufacturer; AGERA®, a bio-chemical, clinical skin care line, and A-CuteDerm™ clinical skin care.
