Most of your aging characteristics are inherited, and this includes our face. When your skin loses elasticity and tone, the structures of the face begin to sag, and wrinkles form. You may also have actually lost volume of tissue in your face, making you look hollow or gaunt. This can make you appear tired.
Many or all of these problems can be corrected by a plastic surgeon. When these signs of aging are addressed in the early stages, a mini facelift (sometimes called an upper facelift, “weekend facelift” or “S” lift), may be all that is required.
A mini facelift can:
A mini-facelift gives both men and women natural-looking results. This is not a fake or tight look like what is sometimes call the “Hollywood facelift.” People will simply say that you look rested or may ask if you have lost weight.
Mini facelift surgery is a simpler procedure than a traditional facelift. It uses a small incision at the border of the ear, leaving only a short scar that is barely visible. The procedure can be done under local anesthesia with sedation, if desired.
Dr. Robinson always performs this procedure in an accredited outpatient surgery center with highly trained anesthesiologists and nurses. The procedure itself only takes one to two hours.
There is minimal discomfort after a mini facelift. It is a proven procedure that is safe, effective, and has a fast recovery time. Most of our patients are back to work in one or two weeks, depending on the physical demands of their jobs.
You can expect your results to last for an average of eight to ten years.
At your consultation, Dr. Robinson will talk with you about your goals and what features of your face you would like to change. He will examine your face and suggest ways to achieve these goals.
You will also see mini face lift before and after photos of others who have had the surgery. Dr. Robinson will take pictures of you to serve as your “before pictures”. About two months after your procedure, he will take “after pictures” and give you both sets of photos. They are fun to look at and compare the differences.
Sometimes, non-surgical corrections are all that is required to correct the signs of aging. These include facial rejuvenation techniques, such as BOTOX, Restylane, or collagen. In other cases, a traditional facelift may be preferable, or you may want to consider other procedures to complement your mini facelift, such as neck lift, brow lift, blepharoplasty (upper eyelid lift and/or lower eyelid lift), or chin contouring (liposuction). Sometimes, more than one procedure can be done at the same time. Dr. Robinson will advise you the best way to accomplish the look you want.
