A mini tummy tuck (mini abdominoplasty) is a great procedure for both men and women to rid themselves of excess tissue and tighten the belly. The procedure is customized to each individual and requires less recovery time than a full tummy tuck.

What Happens During a Mini Tummy Tuck?

The mini tummy tuck procedure is designed by Dr. Robinson to remove excess tissue from the belly button to the lower abdomen. Fat is removed through liposuction, and excess skin is then removed to tighten and smooth the contours of the stomach area.

The underlying muscle of the abdominal wall, called the rectus abdominus muscle, can also be tightened at the same time if it has become too loose and weak. This condition of the muscle is called diastasis recti.

Mini tummy tuck surgery can be done using a short incision below the belt line so that the scar is well hidden under clothing. This incision is shorter than the one required for a full tummy tuck.

Mini Tummy Tuck Recovery

Recovery time is faster after a mini tummy tuck than after full abdominoplasty. Most people can return to work and other normal activities in only one or two weeks, as long as their job is not physically demanding.

While you can expect some bruising and swelling, patients report that discomfort is minimal after a mini tummy tuck. Of course, you will be given pain medication to ease any soreness you experience.
